Best meal on Hawaii!! We truly enjoyed the Sunday Brunch at Manta. An incredible setting overlooking the ocean, with a buffet to match. Everything was expertly prepared and presented. Salads were fresh, bright and had unique flavors. The sashimi was fresh and plentiful, and then there’s a true sushi station, featuring at least 5 or 6 fish to be prepared as a handroll or nigiri as you decide! The ahi was bright red, perfectly fresh with a buttery texture the required a few returns for more. The kampachi was also excellent. The prime rib was nicely prepared with sides of au jus or horseradish cream. The crab claws were pre-cracked and prepared for easy access, no mess, just sweet crab meat with drawn butter or cocktail sauce. How about dim sum? 3 or 4 different options there. The prepared dish that stood out was the short ribs in blue cheese sauce. While this was by far the priciest meal we had over 8 days, it was also the best and was the only one of the day without inducing a food coma. Top of the chart brunch, not to be missed if you don’t mind paying for quality.

Exquisite experience. The setting is exceedingly beautiful — candlelit tables facing an ocean view. Minutes after you’re seated a basket of warm breads is whisked to your table and accompanied by butter and olive tapenade. The mac-encrusted mahi mahi is a generous portion of two large pieces of fish — very succulent. The hearts of palm salad was a little disappointing — the hearts of palm tasted like the canned variety. Extensive wine list. No need for dessert because various mac sweets are brought to the table with the check. Polite service but slow. Slow service was not a bother because the setting is so spectacular.

Arrived at 8 pm-2 couples-my wife and I celebrating our 24th anniversary. We had been there for dinner 2 nights prior with a large group. Ordered a bottle of wine and gave our orders. Beautiful venue. I ordered another bottle with the main course-we were told it was unavailable-requested the sommelier to pass to discuss. Main courses arrived-returned my wife’s steak since it was seared outside and raw inside. She requested it medium rare. Sommelier never came-did his best to make himself invisible in spite of the fact we discussed some of their wine offerings when we had walked in and we could observe him busying himself with very little., Redone steak arrived-still not cooked. They finally prepared a new steak at 10pm. At this point we were quite aggravated-requested to see the manager who was not there. Chef was not there but the piano player said he would get someone and promptly disappeared. My friend then went to the front desk and got the assistant manager to intervene. As providers in the service business they have a long way to go. The total absence of the sommeliers presence and avoidance helped fuel the inexplicable and unexplained breakdown in service. We will not return.
