Love the fish tacos here. Came here after someone else recommended it. The first time it was on Milwaukee and obviously popular as the door was open as line went outside. I had the fish tacos as I’m so addicted to them. I really enjoyed them and the complimentary ice cream is a nice touch. I phoned ahead for my order after that. I’m glad there’s now a downtown location in case I don’t feel like dealing with mall traffic. The top review must be from a disgruntled ex-employee. TOUCH’E!!!!

Greasy Fish and Chips. I lived in Seattle 15 years and recently moved back – I ate a LOT of fish and chips there – and had a craving. Imagine a nightmare Ivars. I ordered the halibut fish and chips; the halibut was dripping grease, the ‘chips’ were nasty overcooked fries, and the coleslaw was dry and needed malt vinegar just to give it any flavor. Asked for lemon for my halibut – twice – it finally arrived after I had finished eating. My husband had the Salmon BLT. He reports a bland sandwich with no seasoning and undercooked bacon. So now we’ve been to this restaurant twice – our first and last time!

Great clam chowder. Fresh Off the Hook is a great place for clam chowder. My friends and I each had a bowl today for lunch and we all thought it was delicious. The clams were tender and the soup was creamy and loaded with flavor. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Bread is served along with the soup which is nice. I can’t wait to go back.

Some of the best seafood you can get in Boise comes from Fresh Off the Hook and this second location is a great addition to the downtown scene. The food isn’t overly yuppy, more on the down-home side. My crab cakes on an English muffin were delicious!!! Portions weren’t huge, but were satisfying and service was very efficient. We stopped in for a late dinner just to grab something quick, they had us in and out in under an hour. Friendly staff, great food, reasonably priced and a great location!

Nice portions good atmosphere. I enjoyed my meal i had fish and chips and it was a classic dish that was not altered and held true to a nice thick batter flaky moist fish and some awesome fries, the free dessert at the end was a palet cleansing delight. Props to the head chef Brian.

Clam Chowder was decent. A touch watery. Ahi salad was a mixed bag. Slightly dry lettuce, but ahi was seared well. They offer a small scoop of sherbet to cleanse palate of seafood which is a nice touch.
