We were in town visiting friends and went to Happy Fish on a Friday night. The sushi was just OK and the atmosphere was fine, it was the bad service that really made me not like the place. Our waitress took much too long to bring our drinks that we could se just sitting at the bar. My husband asked for a ginger ale and she didn’t know if they carried any. She served him a clear soda without a word and left before we could say anything. She also couldn’t tell us which sushi was cooked or served raw.

Service is slow, and the quality of even the basic rolls doesn’t match the high prices. Not impressed.

My brother in law rolls sushi there and he is amazing, but as far as the quality of food they use I don’t think it’s worth the price. I do love the bar next door though!

Went to this place about 2 years ago and didn’t really care for it. Tried it again about 3 months ago and the experience was absolutely fantastic!! I am a huge sushi fanatic from California, so I know bad, good, and great sushi. This definately was great!! Mike makes the best sushi chef specials in town. And the price is very reasonable. The mixed poki was the best I have ever had. @racheal its to bad that your experience was bad but I would be happy to use your gift certificate if you dont want it since I go at least 3 times a month. It is true that if you come here you better not be in a hurry. Great sushi is all about the zen experience and can’t be rushed.

Unsatisfied customer. I tried it a second time to give it another chance, but it was worse! The service is slow, and the sushi is only okay. On the second trip I was overcharged, but didn’t notice until after she had run my card. After waiting 15 minutes for my 4.00 refund (which I never did receive back!) I was also given a parking ticket. The owner assured me that he would compensate me with a gift certificate that would cover the 4.00 and my parking ticket. I told him that was fine, but I would prefer cash! He took my information to mail me the certificate. It took me two months and talking with 4-5 different employees, and a treat of trashing his business online, for them to actually send me the certificate. Needless to say, I am out 20.00 for this experience and I refuse to use their certificate, because I will never do business with them again!

Love this place. Good food, great drinks, friendly staff, funky movies on the tele, and usually some sweet grooves on the radio. What more do you want? I’d go there every week if I could.

Sushi First. Happy Fish was the place I had my first (real) sushi encounter. Like many, I didn’t fall in love with it instantly. Though, what I had was good enough that when my boyfriend (now fianc) asked me if I’d like to go again, I was definitely willing to give it another shot. Now, after almost six years of visiting Happy Fish whenever we’re in Boise, it’s still one of my favorite places for Sushi.
