Had so much potential. Celebrating our anniversary, we decided to give this quant local haunt a try. The building and overall ambiance are great. The bar in the front, which is open to the dining area, is a bit loud. The wait staff was friendly, quick and helpful. The complimentary salad and bread was great, although being an Italian restaurant I expected freshly backed loaves. My wife ordered tortellini in white sauce, lasagna for myself, and the kids chose spaghetti and macaroni and cheese respectively. There was free wine tasting, which we did enjoy. That’s when everything came to a grinding halt. The lasagna was served in a ceramic broiler dish with a blanket of rubbery cheese burnt to the top. Once I cut through (literally had to use a knife), an oily Alpo-ish meat paste poured out. The flavor was bizarre. No discernment of what the layers were, no ricotta flavor, just an oily mess of saltiness. Obviously had been cold or frozen, piled with cheese and sent into the broiler for far to long. The tortellini had clearly been in a frozen state only minutes before, too perfect in shape but tough and tasting of processing. Although I don’t want to believe it, the sauce tasted jarred. My daughter’s spaghetti looked gawd-awful. The noodles had been sitting in a vat of water for quite some time before plating, and piled with a completely flavorless tomato paste. No spices, nothing. The meatballs were cold in the center, and you guessed it, had no flavor. My daughter ate about two bites and turned to the bread. My sons macaroni looked the most freshly made out of everything, but had no flavor. My 4 year old son asked for salt. He’s never asked for salt. Needless to say we didn’t eat much. I’ve had mediocre Italian before, but due to my ferocious love of pasta and typically pound it down anyway. After eating about 4 bites of lasagna, I gave up. Because it was our anniversary we just laughed it off and went for ice cream. I wasn’t going to double down and attempt dessert, fearing another frozen to broiler science experiment. There was no making this right since 0 for 4 proved that they didn’t know what fresh Italian food looks like. I paid the inflated bill and we left for good.It is the morning after, and what little I did consume is in a fight with my gut. This never happens. Folks, I would venture to say that Chef Boyardee has more flavor and is safer to eat. I don’t say this lightly. We cannot understand what on earth everyone is raving about. Clearly it’s not the pasta. There are far superior Italian restaurants in this area. The Stuffed Olive, Ginos, Asiagos, Louie’s, hell, even Olive Garden is better.

Yummy food!. I’ve eaten here several times and it is very good. Plenty of food served hot with bottomless salad bowl. Prices average $12-15. mostly and seems like authentic Italian to us. Comfy atmosphere too and Thursdays they have a wine tasting during the dinner hours.

Usually we like Davincis for a casual family dinner. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience this last visit. We requested 2 tables with the banquette seating to be pushed together for a Christmas Eve dinner for 2 families with small children. Upon arrival, we got 2 booths. Might have been a communication issue, but upon requesting a better seating situation, the manager was not only unhelpful, but completely rude. Service was ok..inexperienced, humorless and slow…but at least, not rude. Food was fine..nothing spectacular, but ok. Will not be back as there are other choices for Italian that are not only a culinary cut above, but are establishments that consistently provide care and concern for the customers they serve.

Still good!. Haven’t been to Davinci’s for over a year, but glad to say it’s as good as ever. Have never had a bad meal and the service has always been very good. Plus, it has a nice ambience–something about the decor makes for comfortable dining.

  • Winelover

Soft pasta and watery sauce. Lousy wine list.

  • Kelli

Waitress was horrible. The pork dish was so overcooked that was like chewing leather. Only good thing was the bread.
