Sorry, but it is not what my friends and I expected. The atmosphere is so uninviting. Was there right before they celebrated the renovations/opening. Asked about the music, etc. and they told me not to expect the same as they use to have prior to the renovations. So far, it looks like it is just more expensive and less personality. Sad and very disappointing.
The three most important aspects to any food & drink establishment in my opinion: ambiance, service, food/drink quality (not in particular order). Rembrandts has done a fantastical job converting an old church into a pretty hip, eclectic setting. The food I’ve had here, so far so good. The burritos are tasty, the baked goods and pastry items curb a sweet tooth, the roasted potatoes could use a little more seasoning. The donuts are moist and not too sweet. The service…sigh. I’m torn here. I agree with other comments about hit or miss. I think that nails it. Some days the people behind the counter are fun, energetic and make me feel welcome. Other days they seem over-worked, understaffed and stressed/pissed that yet another customer has come through the door. Today was one of those days. I waited nearly 20 minutes for oatmeal. After finally going to the counter, they brought me the cold, hardened top layer oatmeal that had been probably sitting out for 18 of the 20 minutes. I took it back only out of principle ($4 cold oatmeal, I don’t think so). They were prompt in bringing a new one as well as a drink card, the new bowl however, had oatmeal dripping down the sides and made a mess on the table. My two cents to the owners, sacrifice some margin and hire more people, or pay them better.
Forgotten order, wrong order, poor service, tables never cleared etc. Should be simpler to get coffee and a bite. Used to love Rembrandts…Took a year break after my last bad experience and I guess it wasn’t long enough.
