Good spot for a group dinner. One of the guys from our Tampa group wanted to try Happy’s for Chinese food. We were lucky that we picked the right time for a group of 12 to just show up. Service was great, and they did take very good care of us that evening. The food was good, though not star studded spectacular. (think of HK Streets in Singapore as that level) What I really liked was their menu items – and that they had a great variation you do not often find outside of the west coast or Honolulu in the USA. Take a look at the chicken dishes on the menu and you will see several that you may just want to try. There are some different regional specialties by city that I want to try on my next stop for dinner there. The food was in large portions – and I am talking BIG! I tried their mushu chicken, and it was served with four wrappers to roll a massive plate of goodness into some very good eating. So if your looking for some good Chinese food – a stop at Happy’s would definitely be worth the while.
Severely overrated!. I would like to know how this place made the top 100 list for Chinese restaurants in the US. What a joke! The food is OK but definitey did not make me happy. Whoever the reviewer for the top 10 list is must not have tried Ming’s or Yummy House as they are both way better than Happy’s.I have been to Many Chinese restaurants across the states that blow this place out of the water and I’m pretty sure none of them are on a top 100 list. So those lists must not be very realistic. It would be interesting to know how it is decided what places to try and rank in said list.
Good Take Out. First of all, there are two Happy’s. You want to go to the one on Park Ave. downtown. The food is always good and portions are huge, we always share one meal. We usually do take out only, the restaurant itself is a little lack luster.
I was disappointed.. It was pretty standard Chinese food. It was good, but not great. and I was hungry again in an hour.
Generally Good. The food at Happy’s is usually good. Avoid certain dishes, like Mar Puo Tofu, as they are anything but authentic or good. Their soups are very good.
It’s my families favorite chinese their sweat and sour chicken is deliciouse and defiantly stands out!!! I wasn’t a huge fan of their lo mein the noodles though. It a great place with excellent service I love the owners they are super nice.
A favorite!. A group of music teachers holds their business meetings at Happy’s. We gave it a try for that reason and have been repeat customers several times over the past few months. We’ve ordered a variety of items and have enjoyed all of them. We love it!
