This place is severely overrated. The pancakes are standard fluffy cakes, you know the kind that can absorb a bucket of syrup. The kind that made IHOP famous (why, I have no idea). I hate those kind of pancakes. These are basically the kink of pancake that Smitty’s serves. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict. Unfortunately, they came to our table cold. We sent them back and came out with what seemed to be the same cold plate of Eggs Benny. I only tried this place because of how popular they are. I figured, so many people can’t all be wrong or not know what real good pancakes are. People must just go here for the Nostalgia or because they people they meet up with love the place. O’brady’s is a way better place for breakfast.

Perhaps I have been going to Smitty’s when they are having an off day, but I have not had a good meal there is the last three visits.Service: The service has always been friendly. I have been seated quickly, and have never received the wrong order. Also, my water glass has never been more than half full before it was refilled.Ambiance: This is a nice restaurant to go with the family, and I have gone by myself. The tables are far enough apart that I can read without hearing too much from those around me.Cleanliness: The restaurant appears clean, and I have encountered no problems.Price: The prices are comparable to the similar restaurants within this area.Food: This is the reason I give Smitty’s a low rating. I have only been here for breakfast, and I have yet to be pleased with the quality of the food. Everything is so bland and flavorless. The chicken-fried steak was obviously frozen and reheated. Omelets should be removed from the menu, for they are lacking fresh meats and vegetables, and too egg-thick. The only part of breakfast they do right is the toast. The toast was cooked perfectly.Overall: I am always shocked with the love people have for this place. It is nice and clean, but there are many better places to go for breakfast.

Good food, friendly staff not the boring franchise restaurant eatery. If your disappointed check yourself, maybe you are looking for the wrong qualities in life.

My wife and I almost skipped Smitty’s due to the negative reviews I read while sitting in their waiting area. I’m sure glad we didn’t! The waiting area was chock full when we arrived around 1 pm on a Sunday. Nevertheless, we were seated in less than 15 minutes. I was worried we would have a crabby waitress or that our food would take forever to be served, but none of this was the case. In fact, our experience was entirely the opposite. Sherrie was prompt, attentive, and helpful with suggestions. She steered me toward the blueberry pancakes with warm compote and whipped cream. They were absolutely delicious! She recommended the biscuits and gravy for my wife who likes her comfort food – but was quick to warn the country gravy was a bit on the spicy side. This was especially appreciated since my wife can’t tolerate anything too spicy. As a result she played it safe with bacon and eggs with a side of hashbrowns and toast. We shared, and let me tell you, the portions were plenty generous. The bacon was seriously some of the best I’ve ever had – extra thick and fried to perfection. We ate every last bite. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Smitty’s for a delicious and filling breakfast with quick and helpful service for under twenty bucks! Way to go Idaho Falls.

Dirty, dingy and really poor service. Couldn’t continue waiting for the food so can’t really comment.

Skip this place. Outdated decor, snotty hostesses. on the bright side, the younger staff keep the coffee cups full at all times.

Smittys was recommended by several locals in Idaho falls. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was super peppery and tasted like it was not home made. The hashbrowns tasted very oily. I roses the french toast. It wasn’t anything special. If we come back to idaho falls I don’t think we’ll be eating here again. The service was good though.
