Nice Quaint Shop. I happened by Corkscrews the other day and do indeed recommend it. Nice atmosphere with good wine and beer selection and the owner was very personable. I found out that he recently re-opened it under new ownership and that his wife is a veteran. What better reason to give this place a try?
Nice, but No Dice!. Situated on Main Street the Wine Shop is well located. Entering the pub one descends a stairway to the basement restaurant. The decor is delightful, quite avant garde and inviting, the tables comfortable, pleasant music. The problem: the service and food. This is one the most poorly managed restaurants we’ve ever visited. We ordered drinks off the menu, and found they were out of our choice of beer, so we selected another. We then ordered their signature dish, a mixed bruschetta plate. One picks 4 from perhaps 16 or so options. We choose one with tomatoes, but they came back stating their tomatoes were no good. We substituted another one and in the meantime we received the first 3 bruschetta pieces and started on them. The bread was dry, thick and tasteless. The toppings mediocre – such as a speck of prosciutto and some pieces of apple. We never did get our 4th bruschetta and left in disgust after insisting they deduct the cost of the missing fourth. The original tab was over $13 for 4 mediocre pieces of bruschetta! Our visit was at 6:30pm on a Saturday night – and we were the only customers! Not hard to see why.My guess: these folks will soon be out of business. Sad, as it is an otherwise attractive place.
