I grew up in Chicago in the 50’s to 1973, and love the food. I am able to go back for work once or twice a year, and have a list of places to eat. Taste of Chicago is the closest you’ll get outside of the City. The Italian beef and hotdogs are great. Limited hours, so get there when you can. I love the combo; Italian beef covering a sausage.
