I ha e never eaten here and left hungry. Every item I have tried has been excellent right along with the service. The staff is very helpful in recommendations as to what types of food to try. I love their bean soup with chorizos. I usually ha e that with most meals. Their wines are very good as well as their selection of other libations. You are missing out if you do not eat here.

I always stop by here on trips the location isn’t difficult to get to from the hiway. The croquetas are delicious and creamy. Though my lamb grinder was a little plain, the meat was thinly sliced and tender and was great with some of their hot sauce.

Great pub food that is inspired by local inspiration. Just a fun great place you have to take people to that will for sure be a hit! Food is always super yummy! I get the lamb dip every time with croquettes (which are to die for)!

Neat place, good food. Not fancy and great beer list in a cool part of town. Enjoyed the spicy lamb grinder and carrot bisque. The house dressing is also very good.

As Basque as mac and cheese. Sadly, the Bar Guernika is as disappointing as the whole Basque District. The so-called district only consists of three eating establishments. The Basque Market is closed for dinner, and even so, their signature dish is paella, which is from the region of Valencia, not Basque country. We left the second Basque restaurant, Leku Ona, 20 minutes after being seated because we were completely ignored by the waitress in a nearly empty restaurant. We took the full house at Bar Guernika as a good sign, but that was where the positivity in this experience ended. First of all, do not come here if you want to eat. The service is slow and agonizing. We were greeted by a waitress with a caustic voice who pretended to be friendly, but spoke to us as if we were three-year-olds. The people at the tables around us clearly had plenty of time to drink before their food arrived, and we made friends with the gentlemen nearby who got so bored waiting for their meals that they started launching their own socks at one another for entertainment. The condescending waitress chided us for asking about the status of our food after waiting an hour, and told us there was only one cook and that we had arrived at a busy time. (We arrived at 8:30pm on a Wednesday night, so one can only imagine what the weekends are like.)Second, having been in the Basque country before, we can affirm that this is not authentic Basque food or drink at all. Well, we had reason to be suspect when the first thing on the menu was a burger and the waitress could not pronounce what they serve. Bar Guernika merely serves greasy bar food with a Spanish twist, and their drink menu has nothing from the Basque country. We ordered four tapas and avoided the sandwiches that seemed to be the most popular menu items but the least Basque in nature. The mushrooms with sherry seemed to be made from canned mushrooms and had very little flavor. The fries were just average and their special seasoning tasted simply like Old Bay Seasoning. The croquetas must have been made commercially and tossed in the deep fryer directly from the freezer. The best dish was the tortilla with chorizo and cheese, but even so, this is not typical of Basque country, and this is one of the menu items with an asterisk that indicates it takes extra time. In short, if we lived nearby, we would never come again.

Charming. The atmosphere was charming and the staff was friendly. I had the lamb grinder with croquettas, which was delicious. I would definitely return.
