The food is nothing special. The omelettes have a ton of cheese in the point of overwhelming. The service is slow even mid morning. I only had my second cup of coffee filled after being there for 50 minutes
Okay, this location of moons has gotten a lot of crummy reviews- I want to start with a disclaimer. If you are in a huge hurry, don’t want to take the time for an experience versus eating and running and have no inkling of how long it takes to make food from scratch- if you don’t care to realize that those are PEOPLE waiting and clearing tables and that they can make mistakes.. then please don’t visit. I’m not saying this to be a jerk, but it seems that reviews I’ve read don’t take it into to consideration that this is a Mom & Pop place with regulars- here you’re not just a butt filling a seat meant to be shuffled in and out. That being said, here is my tale. We had a party of 6 weary, colorful and slightly soggy folks fresh from the Bubble Run. When someone mentioned Moons on Fairview as our choice for brunch, I did something wrong.. I let the review I’d ready on Yelp color(no pun intended) my otherwise open mind. Then I rethought. Yelp is a great guide, a great tool.. but sometimes you have to give a place a shot on your own. Friends and Neighbors I did.. and I’m glad. At a spot that was formerly and Elmers, then Jerry’s.. we parked. We were told the wait time for a party of our size would be about 30 minutes. We chatted with other folks waiting (our damp colorful selves were easy for conversation starts) and we perused the menu. The interior of Moon’s is filled with dark tables and chairs and sports kitsch on the walls. The menu has a number of intriguing selections. This was on a Saturday at about 10:30. Other folks from the Bubble Run had the same idea as we did. When our server came ( a spunky gal Asian American lady whose name escapes me, but I know started with a W) she tested our parties willingness to be playful by bantering with the kids with us (a girl of 8, and two boys 12 and 15). At first the kids looked at the adults- their desire to be playful tempered by lessons on manners and respecting elders- but we were all grinning so it was GAME ON.We placed our order. Coffee (dark, rich and wonderful) and beverages arrived. The wait began we could see wonderful looking things being delivered to other folks, and we are a fun and chatty group so it didn’t bother us to spend the time decompressing about the Bubble Run and talking of other things. Our food arrived.. ample portions of hot food, obviously created for us.. french toast with lemon cream and raspberry sauce, a buffalo chicken wrap, an Italian omelette and the MONSTER omelette with everything in it but the kitchen sink. Red potato hashbrowns and hand cut fries.. and a side of bacon, which was smoky sweet and hot from the grill. We had one minor mishap.. a bacon cheeseburger had been seen as side of bacon.. the bacon was given to us at no cost and the burger put on the grill immediately. The sever provided a fresh fruit cup for the young man awaiting the burger so he would not feel left out as the rest of us dug in. I found the homemade raspberry jam to be most excellent. The teens though the fry sauce was out of this world. Happy sounds of dining were heard. The spicy Italian Omelette was pronounced in need of a bit more spice but was enjoyed nonetheless. Then the bacon cheeseburger arrived is looked luscious and worth the wait. In summary, I found Moon’s to be true to the adage that good things are worth waiting for, as well as a reminder than in our ‘microwave society’ where we expect everything NOW and have a dwindling amount of patience, we are on the losing end. Was our experience perfect? No. Was it quick? NO. Did we leave satisfied by the amount of food, the taste of the food and feeling that we were valued customers? Indeed we did. When you have some time to spend simply remembering that some things are worth a bit of a wait.. go see them. And if you get that Spunky Little Lady as your server.. banter with her.. she’s a lot of fun.

The food is consistently great and under the new ownership the appearance has been cleaned up. It is our favorite breakfast place. Prices are awesome too.
