Waiters. Waters were awesome. ;)11 Aug, 2013Food is amazing and affordable. Waters are terrible. This place would be amazing if the service was good. What is this amateur hour?22 Jul, 2012I have been going to this restaurant for 15 years. The food is amazing and very affordable. The owner is very nice and attentive. My biggest complaint would be the unprofessionalism exhibited by a particular waiter that shows up in skater shoes, shorts, and has a very rude demeanor.

First time and liked it.. We have been looking for a good Asian food restaurant since we moved here two years ago, and hope this is it! We tried at least 8 other Chinese Food places and most we didn’t like. We are light eaters, affluent seniors who eat out about twice a week. Recommended by a long time resident of Boise we had great hopes on Yen Ching. We ordered two egg rolls which were very good, and the beef and scallops combo which we both thought was very good. This dish was topped with a bunch of scallions cooked with the other ingredients, and some pea pods, and the sauce was good on the steamed rice. Service was very good on a Sunday. So 4 out of 5 stars, and we will be back. Next time we will have the cook add water chestnuts to this dish and replace the scallions with more pea pods.

No Thank You. I went here with three friends last Saturday evening for dim sum. At 9:00pm the place was dead, which should have been a sign. We ordered several items, they were out of two of them. It took about 25 minutes to get our food, even though it obviously wasn’t busy and we didn’t order that much. The waiter was not very attentive. Between ordering and serving us our food, he came by once to refill water. The shrimp dumplings were OK, as were the steamed BBQ pork buns and the seafood roll. However, the dumplings that had pork in them were gross. We all remarked that the pork tasted exactly like American breakfast sausage and it had no business being in a dim sum dumpling. Had they run out of pork too? Who knows. We were considering ordering a couple more orders of the shrimp dumplings that we thought were pretty good, but the waiter never came back until about 15 minutes after serving us. We decided not to order a second round since it took so long to get the first round and the waiter was so bad. Wow, I really hated this place! The service was poor and the food was either OK or not good. I don’t recommend it.
