Highest quality, tastiest buffet in Boise. So very impressed – I ate at City Buffet on a Friday at 3pm two weeks ago, slightly concerned as I walked in because most buffets in that post-lunch, pre-dinner time tend to not continue to offer up freshly cooked dishes then, but was so surprised that City Buffet was alive and sizzling. Fresh seafood of the highest quality (and I’m very picky about seafood – my family owns a seafood business for the past 25 years), delicious sushi delicately rolled out, yum cha steamed buns & delicacies, a well-stocked salad bar and dessert bar and a hibachi grill where they cook anything you want on order. The staff were very friendly, I did not feel rushed but they were very prompt and kept my drink filled without being asked. I was most impressed with the high quality of the food – there was no congealed, slimy, greasy, shriveled up dishes like most chinese buffets offer- everything was regularly replaced with fresh-cooked, and there was no scrimping on ingredients – lots of meat and vegies in each dish – you absolutely get value for money in a clean, pleasant environment with the tastiest, freshest buffet in Boise.
Horribel service. I went to city buffet todnight with my friend the waitress was rude she through my ticket at me and made me wait 45 minutes before she refilled my drink beacuse she was playing around with the other waitresses the manager just sat at the sushi bar and stared at her the whole time i willl NEVER GO BACK THAT WAS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD A T A RESTRAUNT AND MY WAITRESS WAS MENDY SHE ONLY CHECKED ON US 1 TIME WE WERE THERE FOR 2 AND A HALF HOURS
Good food, good service.. I don’t understand all the negative reviews. This is by far the best Chinese buffet I’ve had in Boise, and I’ve been to them all. They have at least twice the selection of any other buffet we’ve been to, and the food there consistently tastes better and seems fresher than other buffets around town. On top of that, they do serve sushi in the form of nigiri and hand rolls, and while the nigiri doesn’t quite compare to what you’ll get at most sushi joints around town, the hand rolls don’t leave anything to be desired. The General Tso chicken is particularly good (some of the best I’ve had from any Chinese place in Boise, buffet or no) and the pork (chops, ribs) from their hibachi is consistently well cooked and tender. At $10.25 a person, this place is a real value, and quickly becoming one of my favorite places to eat.
