Overall the best things in portillos are their chocolate cake/shake as well as fries. As far as italian beef is concerned I would go to other places like Al’s Beef or Buona Beef etc. The hot dogs themselves are also a bit old school, I felt there was nothing special about them. The salads are a bit pricy and there is always a line to get your food even if you order ahead using the app. Some restaurants to sell beer, but I don’t really like the sodas they serve. Each portillos is unique in atmosphere. I would recommend if you are a tourist.

Great flavor, super affordable, and best of all: BYOB. Definitely get the baba ghannouj and a falafel wrap. I’m not a big fan of lentil soup, but every time I go, someone I’m there with gets it and raves about it. Service the last time I went was a little slow (only one waitress) but I’ve also called ahead for pick-up before and my order was hot and ready on time.
Underwhelmed…… I decided to try this place since I had heard good things and was having a craving for shawarma. Very disappointing — when I didn’t see the rotisserie spits actually rotating (you can see into the kitchen from the reception area), that should have been my first clue. So the meat was cold….and on top of that the wrap was LOADED with lettuce and tomatoes and pickles (see picture)…..to the point that it chilled the sandwich even further. There was a decent amount of meat on it but little of it was lamb. I was really craving the stuff like I had in England….. darn!!!
I endorse all of the positive stuff I have read. Been three times. Wonderful food. Good ambiance. Caring owner/chef. Attentive and friendly staff.
