Great tavern fare. Surprisingly extensive menu featuring both expected Irish tavern fare and more creative dishes. My corned beef & cabbage was traditional, plentiful, and awesome. My wife’s salad with grilled shrimp was good and fresh, but a bit overloaded with salad dressing. A loaf of outstanding Irish soda bread was a complimentary starter. Check out the extensive spirits list … go for a flight of whiskey if you can’t make up your mind. The place is expansive, with a cozy front dining room attached to the bar, full of character, and a large back dining room where bands play…and even an upstairs private room for performances and parties. A great neighborhood gem with an air of history and cultural authenticity.

    Great Sunday brunch buffet.

Great Sunday brunch buffet, mediocre Bloody Marys, and atrocious service. With a little attitude adjustment on the part of the staff would make this place nearly perfect!

Brunch in Chicago hmm? This is a locals place and boy am I glad I found it. You can just tell by the way the tables are arranged that they cater to large groups of family and friends. We were darn lucky to get a table. The place is loud because everyone at every table is talking to each other(like they would at a dinner in your home}. Kind of a neat thing to see a true gathering place. Food was very good. Brunch to the best of my memory had, Corned Beef Hash, Eggs Benedict, Waffles, Sausage, Bacon, potato O’Brien, fish and chips, made to order eggs and omelets, prime rib, shrimp, calamari, and desserts from cookies to cannoli. I did not leave the gun but I did take the cannoli. Bad very bad of me. I should not have eaten them but I did and now I will pay for it in diet and exercise. This and the Red Apple are now on my list of places I go to in Chicago.

Real. It’s not in a trendy area, so has a nice laid back local feeling. Dark wood, and good food. There was a Celtic music group playing – very nice.
