We just enjoyed our first family dinner at Karely’s Cafe & Pizzeria. The restaurant looks very new and clean but already seems to have a loyal following. I’m guessing that it was the owner who took our order and he was very friendly and helpful. Apparently there are lots of new items available that have not made it to the menu as well as a variety of daily specials.We started off with a trio of ropa vieja appetizers. Because the restaurant is Cuban fusion, my standards were high. Luckily, the empanadas were fantastic! Crispy, light and packed with meat and peppers. And they were huge! My 3 year old inhaled hers.We tried the chicken fajita pizza and were very pleased with our choice. We decided on this pizza because it seemed the most toddler friendly, but we were all pleased with the choice. The pizza was loaded with chicken and veggies and is large enough to feed a few hungry people.Overall, we were very happy with our visit. I’m sure we will be back soon, mostly to try the newest Cuban dishes on the menu. And because I’m always excited to support new business in Avondale. cookingonions.com
