Polish buffet? Why not!. I am what you would call a buffet connoisseur. If I’m going to try a new type of food, you might as well have the freedom to try a bunch of different cuisines, right? This was a perfect example of a buffet aside from the normal sweet/fried Chinese buffet crap and the buttery/also-fried American garbage. So, what do you get for $15? There are a mix of Polish, German, Eastern European, and Russian dishes: schnitzel, apple pancakes, beef stroganoff, Polish sausage, pierogies, and ect. The buffet table is pretty long and diverse, but the emphasis is that the food is pretty decent quality. In the dessert section, they have a type of cake that is either coffee or alcohol based that just makes you want to lick the plate. After all is done, they serve you a small portion of some rich vanilla ice cream, covered in chocolate syrup if you like.If you’ve never had Polish food before, go. If you have had it and probably have had better, go and be a pig. It was a great experience and had some great food.

Didn’t like it. Terrible customer service: waitress doesn’t speak English, Girl , who was at the door taking money (I guess she was some kind of manager ) said the credit card machine doesn’t work , so we have to pay cash, we were not even 3$ short, but she couldn’t let it go.When my husband asked , if we should just left , instead of paying 30$ + tax, she answered :YES!!! How rude!! What a horrible customer service- she rather have no business in already empty place then let go tax$, about 3 $.FOOD- not the best either- too salty, deserts too sweet!!! – heart burn or high blood pressure guaranteed!!!

Montreal visitor…went to Red Apple twice on a two day visit!. I’m from Montreal and I love this place–have been to Chicago twice now and the Red Apple around five times! No, it’s not fancy. Yes, you wander around a giant buffet and serve yourself like all typical buffets where you are overwhelmed by food and the choice. But everything is amazing, Polish fare as it would be served in Poland. The service staff is Polish, and it is a very Polish atmosphere from what I remember of my time there. Each time I have been to a Red Apple there is a quick turnover of food–meaning that dishes are constantly being replenished, and the food is fresh, from the pierogies to the salads, beets (barsczt), sausages, dilled cucumber, . There were also potato latkes and blintzes, Have to say the soups (zurek and also chicken) last time I was there were also really fresh and so tasty. It is very Polish and you feel like you’ve just arrived in a Zakopane-style cabin with the big wooden benches/booths. But seriously this is so good–whether you are on a budget (because it is super reasonable for an expensive city like Chicago) or you just want a good, Polish, stick-to-your-ribs meal. Loved it! We’ill keep going back.
