I went here over the weekend with some fellow friends. A lot of us trickled in, and the bar wasn’t prepared for a larger crowd on a Saturday night. The waitress we had was on and off about being nice, or being rude. It was difficult because they put over 20 people onto the same bill, and refused to split.

My new watering hole. Small Bar was a very pleasant surprise. A neighborhood bar (on the corner of two residential streets) with an excellent beer selection (brews from Lagunitas, Left Hand, Dogfish Head) and a full kitchen. I am a huge fan of the old neighborhood bar vibe and Small Bar has to the tee. 100yr old brick building with huge carved/inlayed wood bar. The beers were great; an eclectic variety. I had the Left Hand Good Juju ($5) a ginger spiced ale, and the Spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries ($10). both were excellent and well worth the price. The bar staff was friendly, tattooed, and attentive, while the crowd was young, and slightly punk/hip-ish.
Great Bar Food, Awesome Atmosphere. This place defines what a local pub should offer: A great selection of beersStraightforward bar food cooked very wellReally friendly staffRelaxed atmosphere. The patio in the summer is really pleasant to hang out in too.
Great calamari, good beer selection, and kick ass music. In the summer it has a nice outdoor area.
Greatest bar on earth. This is the place. true neighborhood style. great old bar. door on the corner. huge beer selection. (over 70 some odd beers and drafts) great food. fresh made burgers fresh cut fries. big salads. if you like good beer and good people go here. totally chill vibe with everyday people.
Horrific Experience. If you don’t mind slow service, surly waitstaff, smelling like fried food, getting called ugly and vitriol-filled names and threatened with bodily harm by the scraggly, scrawny, skanky blond bartender and his meth-mouth side kick, then this bar is for you, because this is exactly what happened to me and my group of nine people on 4/17/08. I admit, I made a mistake in purchasing a beer for someone who didn’t have their ID on them, though they were well over the age of 21 and the bartender had carded one other person in our party (I also quickly apologized to said bartender for my bar faux pas), but the situation absolutely did not warrant the bartender(s) to be as rude and ugly as he was, not only to me, but to my entire group–of which none had said a word to him other than ordering their food and drinks. If that’s not your scene, I’d suggest staying far, far away from this place.
