Fabulous! It’s worth the trek off the interstate! We had the Cubana, a burrito, taco asada and guacamole with chips. All were fresh and service was fast and friendly! Worth the stop!
Wow, Excellent Mexican Cuisine. Stopped by this relaxed, friendly restaurant. The waitstaff was friendly and courteous. The timing of food brought out from the kitchen was perfect. The homemade tortilla chips and salsa to start was perfect and the salsa was nice and spicy. I ordered the build your own Fajitas De Asada. This was a great dish, the beef was just right and the rice was delicious.
Just moved to town from Texas, so I have high expectations of Mexican food. This place was recommended as the best Mexican food in town… if this is true, I’m in trouble. I got 2 tacos with rice and beans. The steak taco was very good; however, the chicken taco was inedible and the rice and beans were bland. I will say I really liked the chips, salsa, and queso… would go back just for those.
LOVE this place!!. When I want a good, inexpensive meal I can always count on El Porton. I’ve tried most of the menu, and have never been disappointed with a single meal. I used to think I didn’t like Mexican food, but after my first time at El Porton I realized I had been eating the WRONG Mexican food. I’m now a die-hard fan!!! By the way, I could make a meal of just the rice and beans! Yum!
Great, simple, authentic Mexican cuisine. Go for the tacos al pastor (pork, cilantro, and onion)…and a Tecate.
Best Mexican food in Bloomington. Il porton has by far the freshest, most interesting Mexican food in the area. While it doesn’t compare favorably to the top national restaurants it is so much tastier than anyplace else in town. Also, it is very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is very unexciting.
Absolutely fabulous. I can eat their chorizo burrito every day.
