Husband had Italian Beef Sandwich, cheese fries, and a chocolate malt. He raved how great it was throughout the entire meal. I had a chili cheese dog which was good but not great. Not enough chili and cheese on it. Guess I should have gone with a loaded one.

Simply put, the best kept secret on the south side of Chicago. Also, the best Cajun/Creole spot in the city. Everything is excellent at this place – the food, the service, the beer, the atmosphere… If you love New Orleans and craft beers, than you’ve got to get to Maple Tree!! Not a place for children though. Get yourself a sitter and enjoy the best meal you will have outside of the city!!

My favorite south side restaurant!!! For apps, we’ve tried the fried green tomatoes (loved them), hush puppies (great), and we always get an order of spoonbread (yummmmm!). The blue crab bisque is also awesome. I always get the hickory buttered BBQ shrimp with jalepeno and cheese grits. It. Is. Amazing. Did I mention it’s amazing? It is. I wish I had a gallon of the butter BBQ sauce. Shrimp is perfectly cooked and the grits are delicious, especially mixed with the sauce. Service is always great, and they have an extensive beer collection. The atmosphere is very unique, you have to exerience it for yourself. But I wouldn’t care if they only had water, the servers threw my food at me, and the building was on fire, I’d go back anyway for those shrimp and grits!!!!

Big easy in chicago. This is hidden down off of Western Ave in Blue Island along the canal and railroad tracks. The interior is cozy and the patio dining in the summertime is excellent. Everything we’ve ever had off the menu(appetizer, entree, dessert) was excellent. The hurricanes are like kool-aid and delicious. The beer selection is hard to match in the area. No Bud, Miller, etc….all beer is specialty or microbrew/craft beer.We were concerned about the place staying open after the owner died, but the service and food quality are still as good as ever. We’ve even eaten there with people from NOLA and they thought the food was sublime .

The Best Smoked Ribs Ever. My family and I went here for my wifes birthday, and the food was top notch. I highly recommend the Ribs. Tender, Flavorful and Smoked to perfection. The Spoon Bread was a great compliment to the dish. They also have a ***GREAT*** bar, with a well rounded list of speciality beers that would go well with just about anything. Its the kinda place, that after your done with your meal you just want to sit and hang out for awhile (mostly because your too full to move). I promise you wont go away hungery.

Friday night dinner. One of my brother’s favorate haunts, we drove from one end of the city, literally to the other (during Friday night rush hour no less) to dine with my brother and his wife on Southern food. I enjoyed my entree a lot, much more so than on other occasions. Everyone else also enjoyed their soft shell crabs, blackened walleye, etc.
