The service was excellent as was the food. I had the vegetarian skillet and it was one of the best breakfast meals I’ve had in years.
Brunch Up!. Really good service and great food!!!! And yes, they are famous for there omlets!!!
Disappointing. Worse sausage patties ever. German and apple pancakes not good. German pancake like lead. Only good part was lemon juice and powdered sugar.
A good start!. This was our first breakfast in Chicagoland on our trip. Our friends get breakfast here on occasion and highly recomended it. It must be a coincidence but this place reminded me of the Apple Peddler restaurants out west. The decor and seating was much the same. We were greeted and seated right away at a table for 4 with water and coffee poured shortly thereafter. Our friends shared there menu ideas with us but I choose the Butcher Block Omelette with added black olives. These are three eggs and oven baked. I would like to see how they do it because it was fluffy, tasty & filling. My girlfriend got the Cinnamon Apple Waffle and enjoyed all she could till I got to finish it…This is a good solid breakfast joint. I can see how it could get busy on weekends. We were there 20 minutes after opening on a Tuesday so it was just picking up. A lot of the regulars were showing up and the staff knew most of them by name. The friendly banter ensued. My coffee cup never went dry (actually I think they left the pot on the table) and if I lived here I would make it a point to stop by regularly.
Long lines for a reason. We love to go here on a Saturday morning and wait forever, it is worth it – love the skillets (that I can eat for 3 days for leftovers), perfectly poached eggs and great bacon as a side.
The locals flock here for a reason. The food and service make this the best breakfast place around.
Good, but not consistent. Not as good as egg’lectic but an acceptable alternative. the food seems to be erratic in quality, but when they are on it’s very good.
