Dry meat in sandwich made with stale bread. Pizza was better, but almost no sausage or pepperoni. The beer is good, and cold. So, if beer is more important than food, this is the place for you. Otherwise, not.
Mothra Says…..Big Airport, Big Sandwich. You know the drill. You have done it so many times before. You run off of your jetway, land in an airport you are not familiar with, swing your head left, then right, then left again to figure out the signs and where your next flight is departing? Head to the TV screens! OK, now where in Chicagos OHare airport is concourse C in relation to my gate? The trip to gate 14 at Concourse C from where we arrived was about a 25 minute walk, run, weave, duck, stay right, then yes, we are there. Thank God for wheels on bags. Sign says: Aircraft delayed 30 additional minutes to the 75 minutes we were early. K says, well, we have some time. You hungry Yep, the Moth man is hungry. We have not eaten since the night before and it has been 6 hours of flights just to get here to ORD. Across the way is a short line to belly up to Berghoffs. Whats Berghoffs. No sey? First time to Chicago. K and I stand in a line and 13 minutes later we have our two sandwiches with pickle spear (no fries, no tots) and sit down in the adjoining beer emporium. I ask the beer-tender; Ill have a pilsner, Large. Enough to share with K. She says nicely, all the taps need a plumbing fix and its going to be 15 minutes. Yikes! Picture Homer Simpson being without beer at Mos tavern. Just then a plumber arrives complete with his toolbelt. We began addressing our sandwiches alongside numerous travelers all with their carry on bags, laptops, tablets, cell phones, you name it. It is actually pretty funny to be inside an airport nowadays. There was a dude over by the restaurant wall speaking quite loudly to someone who was invisible (I hope he was on the phone with a blue tooth). K was famished as well and enjoyed her turkey blt with American cheese on sundried tomato bread. She spread on her own condiments, mostly mustards. I mustard and tabascod my sliced hot carved roast beef on Panini with swiss cheese. There was plenty of roast beast sliced and layered onto that sandwich. Both were good sandwiches and I could not believe that we ate every bite. 15 minutes on the dot, the young lady beer tender motions me over and says, no Pilsner, but I have a local Chicago IPA. Ok, sold. $8.20. Woof! I dont recall the name, but it was tasty. Two good sandwiches at $22.50, one 20 oz beer at 9.20 (tip included). Would I come back to Berghoffs? Yes, probably. Good selection of sandwiches, breakfast. Mothra says…..3.25 of 5.0
