Best Carne Asada in Illinois. I went here with family and had to agree with them. They have the best Carne Asada I’ve ever had in Illinois. Portions are huge and the service was outstanding, even on a busy night and our table with 8 people. I am definitely going to ask to go back when I visit.

Used to be Great….now they are just RUDE. I love authentic Mexican food and am not a big fan of Taco Bell at all…which is the opposite of authentic Mexican food. Anyway, I used to love Cafe Salsa and I always get the Chile Rellenos. Only wish more than one came with the meal because it is very small. Mr. Manz commented the portions have not gotten smaller but I have proof they have and the prices increased. I have pictures of two different years with the same meal one bigger than the last. Also, they should try to keep it all Mexican, if we wanted American food we don’t go to a Mexican restaurant. The response was improper and rude. I am coming into chicago soon this weekend and will prove my point. I also do not come to Cafe Salsa to fill up on chips and salsa…I come for a decent portion of your chile relleno. Thanks for the HISTORY LESSON IN BECOMING LESS MEXICAN. Also you should tell your waiters to keep their home phone numbers to themselves THANK U.

Worth a try. I came here on a Wednesday night and was surprised to see the restaurant and bar PACKED! So, we gave it a whirl. Salsa was pretty good…. Guacamole was mediocre at best. It didn’t seem fresh to me. It was too creamy in texture. For my meal I had steak tacos, which were pretty delicious. I have to give this place credit, there are a lot of intriguing dishes on the menu that I’d like to try. For example, Goat Cheese and Basil Quesadillas and Mahi Mahi tacos. So, they have convinced me to come in again for a try. The service wasn’t the best — but it wasn’t the worst I have had earlier. Our server was very laid back, not really in a hurry to take orders. But the busboys were very attentive and did a great job clearing the table in a timely manner.
