  I attended 1776 after researching about it online. I thought the food was good. I had the mixed grill and everything was cooked just how I like it. My date had the 100 mile meal that had only local and sustainable foods on it. It was four courses from a fixed menu. She enjoyed it but commented that the carmolized beet tart was burnt and her apple tart for dessert was cold. The decor was warm and inviting. The biggest problem about this place was that our server seemed to be more interested in talking to her regular tables than making sure we were taken care of. Overall experience was a 6 out of ten. The poor service really left a bad taste in my mouth.

  The best always involve family. This family owned restaurant is themed for the head of the family’s love of history . The history is American as is the menu , but not exactly your usual American menu . Buffalo , Elk , Rainbow trout , wild mushroom soup , Jack Daniel’s pecan pie , you get my drift . The menu is intreging , the bar well stocked [ over 10 single malt Scotches alone ] , and the wine list is one of the best I’ve ever seen . I’ve had the Jambolia , pork chops , American mixed grill , but I have trouble tearing my attention away from the Rack of Lamb . Lamb is so hard to do the right way and they have never disappointed me . My wife who is watching her intake had the rainbow trout on rice pilaf and was very happy . She even found a black tea that wasn’t Earl Grey . I have been eating at this restaurant since they opened and they seem to have found that comfortable mix of solid sameness and surprise that keeps me delighted . Try it and let the owners [ who always seem to be there ] help you pick a wine , you won’t be disappointed .
