Billed as an authentic Mexican cuisine !?!Think Taco Bell … in a beautiful restaurant … BUT more expensive … like WAYYY more expensive.Parking is tricky and the entrance is not facing Lincoln Highway … you’ll have to go around the back so take note. The restaurant is spacious and clean. They seem to have a big bar AND a nice outside patio. We seated ourselves unknowingly next to what seemed to be our waitress’s friends. Every move we made was second to this other table. It seemed like we were more of an afterthought than an actual paying table. Our waitress was robotic and we had to ask for stuff rather than having our server anticipate the needs of the service.I ordered a cup of coffee that was never refilled. For our appetizer we ordered guacamole and chip, which was decent.I then ordered chipotle chicken … it was ok but there were no chipotle peppers used in this recipe. I also had to ask for my tortillas that came with the entree. I ran out them (4) and asked for more so they nickle and dimed me for an extra 20 cents. My dinning partner had beef enchiladas (which I’m commenting on because I had a bite). They were ok also but what got me was they topped them with shredded cheddar cheese (The kind you get at SAMs Club) … NOT a Mexican white cheese like any authentic restaurant would … This was not the end of the world for us though. The kick in the pants was the bill. One appetizer, two lunch entrees, a coffee and an up-charge for extra tortillas …. $ 34.95I remember that we’re in DeKalb trying to get a decent Mexican meal so I will overlook some shortcomings … I just wish they would remember they’re in DeKalb when they drop the bill.I feel like Poncho Villa himself robbed me for this mediocre meal !!! This place really reminded me of a Chi-Chi’s … Americanized Mexican food for customers who don’t know any better. It will satisfy your taste for Mexican food but barely AND claiming its authentic is stretching the truth a bit. I most likely won’t be back.AMBIANCE: B- (Someone forgot to turn on the music most of our meal)SERVICE: D+FOOD: D+

Awesome. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Chicago !!!! I’ve been eating there since my college days (25 years) and it never disappoints. Even my 12 year old son LOVES this place that we have to trek 40 miles every month just to eat here. Authentic, of course. I believe a Mexican family owns and runs this place. You will NOT be dissappointed. Lot of food for the money too… Ok, the chips and salsa should be free, but that is the ONLY complaint. And the waitresses should not wear such frumpy dresses 🙂

I can’t believe this place is still open. It’s overpriced bland food with nothing remarkable or special about the dishes. The meat they use is cheap and of low quality. They make you pay for chips and salsa, the FREE cornerstone of any Mexican restaurant. Their salsa or chips aren’t made in house. Their portions are small. I can’t believe people like this restaurant.

Don’t do it!!. I can’t recommend this palce to ANYONE. This is not authentic mexican or even southwest cuisine. For some reason the people of Dekalb feel this is real mexican food and IT’S NOT!! Even if you put cheese on your dishes…why do they use this goverment cheese tasting stuff?? It’s like velveta….yuk
