I was so excited to try this place and as soon as I walked in, felt as though it was more of a commercialized spot vs. an authentic hot dog joint. It was an assembly line preparation of hot dogs, amidst yelling of orders and pre made soft drinks on the side…The dogs were not carefully made like a true Chicago dog should be. The buns were soggy, not steamed and spongy. When I unwrapped mine it was flat and damp.I was disappointed. Fries tasted like they were fried in old oil. Wouldn’t try it again…too many smaller hot dog spot in Chicago that probably serve better dogs, cheaper priced and a truer hot dog ‘joint’.
On my list to try and tonight was the night. Have to say the food was average. We were there during happy hour, maybe still too early as we were out there by 530p and not too crowded for a friday night. There was a small charge for chips and salsa; usually free at most mexican restaurants. I asked for hot sauce for my tacos..had two choices and brought a small serving which I was charged $3.50 for. The little extras start to add up. Our server was attentive, friendly and gave her favs off the menu. Will I go back? Probably not..like I mentioned, it was on the list..been there, done that.
I must say our experience was fantastic. Sat outside next to fire (they asked first if on) and had beautiful nite. Luis was our server and he was so helpful and just one of those people you genuinely appreciate his fun attitude. Food & drinks outstanding. Caramelized pineapple sangria – WOW. Tamales, tacos, Mexican style corn but the new find – Brussels sprouts Definitely a do-over. Great night.
Way over priced, food was average tasting, and service below par.I had the guacamole, it was good, but nothing special and expensive for the amount served.Chips and salsa, a charge for these???? I could understand for some special sauce or something but not for the smidgen of sauce they served with chips that are usually included with a meal.I had the tacos highlighted as a favorite on their menu, the Carne Asada as well as the Pastor tacos. They were both just ok. Not memorable at all.The service was terrible. While the server was very nice, he was virtually non-existent. Took me 30 minutes to get a refill on water and at least 20 to get my bill when I was ready to go.I won’t be going back here again.
Great Latin Food! Tacos, paella, and much more. Great dishes for sharing and the margaritas and sangria are out of this world!
