Nicely done with attention to both the food and presentation. This small hotel tends always seems to have restaurants which are above the crowd. Trio,…

Small, quaint location with good food, beer and wine. I recommend the duck jambalaya for starters. The svickova was a nice comfort food. The warm pecan tart ala mode was exceptional.
Quince has been supplanted by The Hearth, an upscale American bistro style restaurant located in the Homestead hotel. I had the Czech dish svitkova, a beef tenderloin in a creme sauce with gnocchi. Delicious. The Hearth has a decent beer list. We finished the meal sharing an excellent pecan pie tart. The chef visited our table to check our satisfaction … nice touch.
This restaurant was amazing!! The wine list is full of interesting moderately priced selections that I’ve never seen on any other menu. The presentation of the courses was definitely on par with other excellent restaurants that I have been to in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Paris and Brussels. Now about the taste of the food… far surpassed all expectations. We started with a lobster claw. It was served with fiddle head ferns and asparagus puree. The wife and I shared it with a bottle of French brut rose’ champagne. My wife then ordered the curried asparagus soup and I had the foies gras. The soup was poured tableside onto a shredded asparagus spear already in the bowl. My foies gras was plated with puree of white asparagus and had crunchy granola sprinkled on the puree. I had a desert wine from Germany instead of the usual saternes from France (although the saternes was available as well on the menu). Next was the main course. Jennifer had the mushroom ravioli (she’s got vegetarian leanings). I had the duck.I often have duck, I must say that this duck was prepared so well that I now consider the duck at Quince the BEST I have ever eaten. The breast was sliced and had been cooked with a bit of coarse salt crusting the center of the top. The leg was prepared confit and there was foies gras mousse. I had a glass of pinot mouniere and the wife had a glass of a Chilean wine which was a blend of chardonnay and voignier. On to the cheese course! We selected four cheeses from eight on the menu. They were all delicious! We had a bottle of demi sec French sparkling wine from Alsace. It was great with the cheeses and we ended the evening with sour cherry-lemongrass sorbet. You don’t have to do so many courses for your meal, but if you have the time… I highly recommend it. This is my number two all-time enjoyed meal!!
Very Average. After reading the reviews, my husband and I were ready for a delicious and romantic dinner. Not want happened really… The restaurant was small and dingy. It smelled damp like an old basement. We changed out table multiple times. We did not accept being in the doorway or getting jammed in a corner. When we finally sat down, our table was wobbly and our water kept splashing around any time one of us touched the table. We finally got reseated super close to two old men next to us, who proceeded to talk about their sexual obsessions about their office staff. YUK! So much for romance. All this time, there were multiple tables open which were not offered to us. Anyway, as far as the food itself, it was very average, at best. The bread was stale and cold, and was not provided to us until we asked. We had been seated for 45 minutes and were starved. Service was slow, mostly becasue there was only one server working to take care of 10 tables or so. The entrees were just OK. My ravioli was rubbery and wierd. The scallops were fishy and gross. However my husband’s pork chops were OK. Honestly the dessert and the wine were the best part of the evening. When we finally paid and got out, the valet parker was nowhere to be found. half an hour later, we finally got our car! I would not go back to this place! Never again!
Very nice restaurant at the hotel we were staying at. For the traditional meat and potato person I would classify this as a place for experimenting with food items not normally seen. Very knowledgeable staff that walks you thru the menu to describe what your pallette will encounter. Extensive wine selection to match the entrees. Plate presentations are fabulous and portion size was adequate. Plates are explained when delivered. Scallops and Duck was mouthwatering.
Lovely, quiet and elegant evanston restaurant. Our food was very tasty. Halibut on spaetzle (we cheated and switched the salmon prep for the halibut prep which was lemongrass and we were not in the mood). Very interesting salads with the ubiquitous greens and fresh beets (but still managed to taste fresh). Great lamb entree split. Lovely Coltrane jazz playing in the background and great staff. Highly recommended.
Went here for Valentine’s Day, where a restaurant really can show what it’s made of. Needless to say, they flopped & I won’t be going back.
