If you’re a Chicagoan you’ve had endless debates over the best hot dog place in town, and quite frankly everyone is right. Growing up in Evanston/Skokie the debate really revolves around three places, Herm’s, Poochies, and Mustards. I love them all, but here is one vote cast for Mustards with a slight edge over the other two. Mustards historic location on Central Street across from the football stadium has made it an Evanston icon. The outdoor seating makes it absolutely the best hot dog lunch place on the North Shore and if hot dogs aren’t on your mind, the flame broiled burgers are excellent (and really what gives Mustards the nod over the other two). To use the cliche that if you could only go to one hot dog place what would you choose? My choice would be Mustards!
