This is one of my favourite restaurants in Evanston for Chinese food. Have been there quite a few times and keep visiting whenever I am in Evanston. I love their dumpling in chilie sauce… it’s simply superb. Also their kung Pao chicken in delicious .. it’s served with rice. Service is very fast! So definitely worth a visit!
This appears to be an out post of a California chain although I am not 100% sure. The food is about as authentic as I’ve seen in the northern suburbs and much is spicy. Peppercorns refers to Sichuan pepper, which is a different plant and a different taste. You can be as adventurous as you would like or eat the old standbys. The staff is friendly and helpful, we were warned about the spice level of the brazed pigs feet. It was good, but not something I’d recommend to anyone who worries about a dish’s fat content. The soups were well done, although the corn soup was a bit too thickened for my taste. All in all, we liked the food and will go back.
