No visit to Central Street is complete without a stop at Tag’s. Over the years our family has used tags for dozens and dozens of events partaking in cakes, cookies, breads, buns, morning pastries and we have never been disappointed (and we’re talking over the span of 40+ years). Tags iconic item is their Smiley Face Cookie, which you can see pictured on their page here. They are absolutely perfect as a one off treat for well behaved little ones on Central Street shopping day or ordered en masse for an event or party. They are a very simple iced shortbread (I’m guessing) cookie that are good sized, maybe a little bigger than the palm of your hand, that basically make you understand why milk was invented. I’d be surprised to find to many Evanstonians who haven’t visited Tags but whether it’s your first or your hundred and first time I’d encourage you to get there soon!
