Typical neighborhood Italian restaurant. Portions are reasonable. Tight/close sitting in the backroom but that adds a cozy atmosphere. Pizza is to die for. Not the very best Italian but it’s good.
So so food.. This is my first visit. Not overly impressed. Booths was very small for 4 people and their coats. The food plentiful, but mediocre. The bread bowl though was never empty. The service was good.
Went here with my wife last night. Absolutely marvelous. We kept it simple with pasta dishes house salad and house wine. The pasta was homemade, fresh and delicious. We will be back to try the seafood which looked and smelled great at nearby tables. Very friendly service
Highwoods Best Italian Food.. Washington Gardens has always been one of my favorite places. They have seventy plus years of serving authentic Italian food. I enjoy all the pasta dishes and they keep coming up with new dishes too. Most people don’t know that the all the recipes are from the original Grandma Angelina Scornavacco, which means you can taste the lasagna just like back in the good old days. If you like thin crust pizza, you won’t find any better then Washington Gardens super thin and crisp style. They served the first pizza offered on the north shore, back in 1944. I love the fish here. I’ve never been disappointed and I’m sure you won’t be either. If it’s pasta or seafood, steak or pizza, you’ll be glad you tried this small family styled place.I organize a dining out meetup, and we’ve had 3 groups for dinner,so far. Each one has been impressed and many have become regular diners. It’s worth the ride and is easy to get to from the city, since the Highwood train station is just down the block. I use street parking but they have valets most nights and week days it’s free.Check them out.Buzzywww.meetup.com/buzzys
