Wonderful, traditional atmosphere. I felt like I’d stepped back a bit in history; but that’s a good thing, at Piccolo Mondo. From the white-cloth table-tops, to the mature servers, to the crowded dining room for a Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Not only a beautiful view south across the park to see the Museum of Science and Industry, but a fine selection of pastas and wines and others specials served graciously. My visit was part of an entire weekend spent in Hyde Park, strolling to Rockefeller Chapel, the Robie House; local cafes–enjoying the diverse cosmopolitan atmosphere of the residents. Many greeted me on the street; not your typical experience just a few miles north in the Loop! In sum–a wonderful restaurant, delivering great food, with a fine feeling of an almost-lost era. Piccolo Mondo also has a very fine bakery!
