Nice old school Italian restaurant. Great veal options. Homemade gnocchi and other pastas with just basic sauces. Excellent pizza bread comes with crusty Italian bread with every order. Large wine list. Outdoor patio has nice ambiance just off Irving Park road. Service was off a bit on the patio but it was a week night. If your looking for old school Italian from 50 yrs ago, this is your place.
The only way to describe this restaurant is Sinatra. It’s old, outdated, dark, and fantastic. This isn’t somewhere to pop in for a quick bite. Order a bottle of wine sit back and enjoy yourself. This is up in my top 5 dining experiences of all time. I’ll come back any chance I get. Aside from being a great atmosphere with exceptional food it is VERY reasonably priced. You would be hard pressed to spend much more than $100 for dinner for two.
Best Italian in the city, great atmosphere, old schoolEvery dish I have had over the last 35 years has been magnificentA must go to when in Chicago
We drive 50 miles to eat in this wonderful restaurant an we have never been even slightly disappointed. Try the Salmon Vesuvio
B. Mark. Had dinner there last night with another couple. Noise was deafening and the service unbelievably slow. The wait staff was very kind and attentive, the food was good, but too large in proportions. I would eat there again, but I would never eat in the room assigned to us. Conversation was just too impossible. They also need to step up the time between ordering and service, turn up the lighting and put some baffles up to minimize the noise.
Dreadful atmosphere, ok food. DIsappointed. This restauarant is so dark that you can barely see your food. Probably has not been redecorated since the early 70s, Reeks old fashioned. Food was ok, not spectacular. Waiter did not know what he was doing, kept mixing up our orders. This would not be somewhere I would want to eat again.
Welcome Home!. It was our first visit, but it felt like we had been there many times. A very welcoming environment replete with lots of handshaking, back-patting, and hugging among staff and customers. We were with out-of-state friends and had a wonderful time as did our friends. The greeter was very friendly, our waiter engaging (and he spoke Italian–a big plus), and the owner we met seemed genuinely happy to welcome us to his restaurant. The food was quite good and reasonably priced, but the single most impressive quality of dining at Sabatino’s is the welcome home, convivial atmosphere. We will be back again and again!!
