The best is Monday night–for jazz!. Serbian Village is a friendly, local bar/restaurant that has a wonderful pro (as in professional) jazz jam on Monday nights from 8:30-12:30 pm. That means that several of Chicago’s best jazz musicians come in to play a few tunes, after the one-hour set by the really good house trio and guest soloist. There’s no cover and no minimum. While you can get food on Monday nights, their menu is very limited—usually two or three ethnic dishes (meat) served with potatoes and coleslaw. Most just come to have a few drinks, mingle a bit, and listen to the fabulous music. This is a gem that jazz afficionados should not miss!
