We went for a Friday night dinner & drinks in a group of three. There was no wait when we arrived at 8. The Nacho Dip was good as a table share & the short run tacos were very good. I would order them again, but may be inclined to try something new next time. The margaritas were good and strong, but I thought it was unusual to not be offered sugar or salt on the rim. My low rating comes from the price point. While very good, it was an expansive taco and drinks dinner.

We met some friends for brunch here last weekend because it’s in a great central location in Lakeview. The decor/design of the place is bright, clean, and airy. We opted for a boozy brunch of BOTTOMLESS Mimosas for $15. These mimosas were deliciously refreshing and didn’t leave me with a headache when I drank one too many.My whole party ordered the Bacon Pancake Sliders and were put off by the heaps of hollendaise on each stack. I was surprised hollendaise was even a part of the equation…pancakes & hollendaise? Never heard of it. They said it tasted like caramel popcorn, but too much of a thing is never a good thing. I had the Chorizo Benedict with polenta cakes and fingerling potatoes. The hollendaise was just meh and I found myself wishing I had ordered something different. The best thing about this dish was the potatoes…said no brunch lover ever. We chose to try Barcocina for brunch because I had heard lukewarm reviews about their dinner menu and I have to say, besides the mimosas, their brunch wasn’t anything to write home about either. windycity-wanderlust.blogspot.com

What I loved most about this place was the atmosphere. The open layout, giant windows, and white color scheme really add to the experience. However, the food and drinks (although great quality) are a little too pricey for my taste. Barcocina is a great spot to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, etc. But, I probably wouldn’t go back just for a random occasion.
