Some of the best ice cream in the city! I’ve gone a few times, and I always gravitate toward the salted caramel. They don’t skimp with the ice cream, packing it high on the cone or cup. The prices are fair for the amount of ice cream you’re getting too. The space is a little small and there’s usually a line during the summer. But in my opinion, it’s worth it!
I’ll start by saying the S’More shake I had was fantastic. Exactly what I wanted. The guy behind the counter was also very pleasant. What I didn’t like was the set up inside. It’s very small & narrow. So it’s awkward to order your ice cream when there are 15 mom’s with their children in front of you & you have no idea what’s going on & neither do the people behind the counter. It was also a bit pricey for the options available.
Great local ice cream shop in Lakeview. My favorite is the Cubby Crunch ice cream that has a little bit of everything in it. They have a couple other really unique flavors like Merlot with chocolate chips and Jack Daniels and chocolate. Perfect spot on a hot summer night in Chicago! lionandmaven.com
Cramped or Quaint? Dirty or Antiquated? Depends on your mood. My title kind of describes it all. Bobtail is an iconic ice cream shop. It’s old, but it has character. Some of the surfaces are antique looking, and therefore look dirtier than normal. But the ice cream is what you’re coming after. The ice cream is good and not too expensive and they have a decent selection of unique flavors (some are seasonal). But my family liked it and that’s good enough for me!
CUTEST ice cream shop. EVER.. This shop is adorable! The perfect place to stop and get a cute peanut butter chip in a waffle cone with sprinkles, or share a banana split with hot fudge. Super cute classic ice cream shop flavors. Love it!
All Good Things, Bobtail Soda Fountain. Usually when I am in Lakeview, I like to get my fill of ice cream. Bobtail Soda Fountain does a splendid job of pandering to my dessert craving. Often I indulge in a malt or a shake, but I have since decided to get a traditional sundae or banana split. Can you say, total satisfaction, boys and girls? Fist size scoops of vanilla, chocolate, and cookies & cream ice cream. Chocolate syrup. Caramel. Bananas. That was all that I could take and still couldn’t finish it. Always good for a little treat. Stellar ice cream, great cold and hot drinks and board games make Bobtail a lot of fun. I’m a bit nervous about trying the merlot ice cream. Next time I stop by, I may get a sample. Have any of you tried it?
