We met an old childhood friend of my husband’s here (at his recommendation) and had a blast. If you have never been here it is like having several food outlets (counter service) in one location and you pick your seat. Lots of different food options and a fun filled atmosphere. We also were able to sit, eat and chat and not feel rushed. He insisted we get the chocolate cake for dessert and man was it good! My husband also had a shake that was out of this world! Really enjoyed our visit here.
Sat outside on perfect Chicago evening. Service very attentive. Food delicious. Will definitely return. Hadn’t considered crepes in a long time. Felt like we were coming back to an old friend.
Would definitely recommend. Cute little French place with really delicious food. Pretty authentic too. We had the fruits du mer and poulet aux champingon. Service was very good too.
This place is small and intimate. For a Sunday brunch with your loved one, this place serves well. The menu is limited but covers most palats, and you can make your own combination. I had the ratatouille with goat cheese. I topped it sharing a nutella and banan crepe.
Go for the wine and dessert crepes. This place is great. Very quaint, feels very old world and not even like it’s in Chicago, which is a nice treat. Definitely an intimate date place or place to have a late lunch with a friend. All the wines by the glass are great. They always seem to be out of my favorite though, the Drouhin Laforet pinot, which is kind of annoying. The French onion soup is AMAZING!!!! The BEST ever. Trust me. My mouth is watering for it right now. I believe there’s some wine in the broth and the cheese is on the bottom of the bowl, as well as smothered over the crouton. Please try it. The meat crepes were less than spectacular, especially after that soup. The dessert crepes were good. I’t totally do the soup and dessert crepes and be satisfied.
Ooh La La!. Some people like to make friends in high places, but I’ll tell ya — where you want to be is in close cahoots with friends who own great eating places. The Roignant family, who owns La Creperie, are family friends of my friend Sara (who is named for Sara Roignant and the Bananas Sara dessert crepe — more on this masterpiece in a bit), which I’m with the in crowd when I go with her. So I’m sorry if my review may then seem biased, but I have already been a fan long before, dating back to college. Now, I may look at the menu as a matter of formality, but I actually already know what I want a week before I go — pate platter (a trio of different pates served with mustard, gerkins and sliced baguette, ooh la la), bouef bourguignon crepe (stew + red wine sauce = gastronomical heaven), and Bananas Sara (tell me, how does one go wrong with bananas, ice cream, and Grand Marnier?). But feel free to break from the shackles and go with the escargots, salad Nicoise, steak frites or ratatouille — and my god, I know so many who swear by the seafood crepe. As for other dessert crepes, I gotta say, close your eyes and pick one. In the summers, when the garden patio is open, sit outside and owner Germain and his boys will serenade with a trumpet and accordion with old songs from the Gershwin, Piaf and Trenet songbooks. It’s some enchanted evening.
