Charging more for green peppers now?. Not the quality they use to be 8 years ago. Sandwiches have less meat on them than before a little dried out at times, no green peppers unless you want to pay extra for them. This is place use to blow me away and now it’s just ok.
U better eat this with garlic bread and chipotle mayo yum
What a great choice! Tried this place for the first time because of good reviews and was left extremely happy! I ordered a thin crust pizza, the crust was a little thicker than i expected, but the taste was so good that I didn’t care. Pizza was so full, with lots of ham, mushrooms and a ton of cheese. The buffalo wings were big and delicious too. Highly recommend. Will order again.
Late night done right. After the end of a rain-delayed Cubs game, we quickly found our options for anything open past 11:30 PM off the L were surprisingly slim in the area. Chose Philly’s on a whim as it was right on the Belmont line. Service was a little slow given that the place was mostly empty, but the standard philly was very good. Very good quality meat. Would recommend, even if it wasn’t raining and late night.
My bf has been talking about this place since we met and we finally went there today after seeing the Blue Man Group (we had free tix). OMG it was better than I could have ever imagined and I’ve been to Philly tons of times! I had the large Original with Mozzarella, Grilled Onions, and Mushrooms on the Garlic baguette. The boy has the large Original as well, but he had it as is… White American, Grilled Onions, and Garlic baguette. We had a side of large fries… Honestly the fries are nothing to write home about. They’re just your average everyday run of the mill fries. The Philly Cheese Steaks though… Were to die for! The restaurant has a kind of warm feel. I like the brick wall interior, the articles on the walls, and the photos of famous people. The front counter is a little odd and doesn’t really blend in with the ambiance. The restrooms have much to be desired though. Not only are the doors like exterior ones with no way to lock them from the inside. And the graffiti could be removed.
Unreal. I have been to many of the cheesesteak restaurants in Philly, and I have to admit that this cheesesteak tops them all. You may think I am commiting high treason or something to that effect, but the fact remains, the quality of the steak itself is incredible. Of course I am bias not only because I love Chicago, but I just do not enjoy cheese whiz. My go to order at Philly’s Best is the garlic bread cheesesteak with extra cheese. It is one of the most flavorful sandwiches I have ever tasted. The meat is fantastic, the onions are cooked perfectly, and the garlic bread is gooey. Another nice thing about Philly’s Best is that the menu is extensive. I enjoy the pizza, and the appetizer’s are really good too. There are a few drawbacks with any place like this. The cheesteak itself is TERRIBLE for you, probably packing around 2000 calories for a large sandwich. The other thing I will say is that it is rather expensive. A large sandwich is over 10 dollars the way that I order it.In general, I think Philly’s best is a must for anyone missing Philadelphia-esque quality sandwiches. Furthermore, it is as tasty as any sandwich that you can get at any sub joint.ENJOY!
Best. Cheesesteak. Ever.
