Fish is very fresh and some of their rolls are very unique. I particularly love the Rise roll, which is a must if you like tuna and cilantro together. Their Tuna Tartare is also delicious, I would happily put the marinade on it over most things I eat.Service is perfectly acceptable, though not exceptional, and it can get very crowded and loud on weekend nights. I prefer to either do takeout or go earlier in the evening. strandedinchicago.com

Small, quiet. My first Sushi experience. The staff helped aided me in choosing my entree and were attentive. Loved the Sashimi
Go for Al Fresco. Rise will always be held dear to my heart, as it’s the first sushi restaurant I’d ever been to and I loved it. It’s been a long time, but I remember enjoying sitting outside on Southport people-watching on an awesome summer day and eating delicious sushi rolls. What a treat it was. We just had basic rolls (dragon and spicy tuna) as it was my first time, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The mai tai was super strong but tasty and I remember our waiter was really great. He heard it was my birthday and gave me free chocolate chip cheesecake. This was 5 years ago, but I still remember how great it was and it definitely turned me on to my love of sushi.
Good sushi, good atmosphere. I have been to rise so many times because I live in Lakeview and a( get their coupons and b) i can walk there. It’s really good sushi on southport and in my top 5 sushi spots in Chicago.
I’m a sushi lover and this place did not disappoint on the quality scale. The service was quick and friendly. The environment is more on the intimate side so prepare to be surrounded by soft lighting and people on dates. My one complaint is that the fancy rolls are too complicated and not very traditional. Since when does sushi have melted provolone cheese on it. But if you stick to the traditional menu items you’ll definitely be satisfied. Oh and you’ll save some money too!
Snooty staff. No reason to return with so many sushi options nearby.
