This is a great breakfast spot right by Addison on Southport. I remember sitting outside eating with my family and people passing by would stop and ask what it was we were eating. I’m not sure who received the most questions in that regard, but it’s hard not to inquire about the baked french toast, bread pudding pancakes, hash, or bruschetta. With the exception of the breakfast salad (quinoa isn’t really my thing), you really can’t go wrong with anything from their trademarks selection. It’s a perfect spot for brunch, especially when you can sit outside, and I think this was the first place we ate out at with my baby nephew so you know they’re kid friendly. Also, the beermosa and bloody mary are highly recommended.

Pretty nice but small neighborhood spot. We walked here with a friend and her dog, so we needed a place where we could sit outside. I ordered the smoked fish platter which was very good. The dressed greens actually had flavor unlike other places . Perfect servings and light fare. Water served in mason glasses and wine bottle.Dogs are allowed outside as long as they are outside the patio area. My only fault with the place is service was on slow side, but very courteous. No one said we had to take our table number inside to pay bill. Even at noon on a weekday, the place is busy. Will return for brunch.

Mmmm Bread Pudding Pancakes!!This little cafe at Southport and Addison is super cute and very busy on the weekends. We came in around 8:30a on a Saturday and had no wait, but when we were leaving there was a bit of a line.We tried the Bread Pudding Pancakes, Brisket & Gravy, Chilaquiles, and Hash with Bacon. The pancakes were my absolute favorite, as I previously mentioned. Sweet, gooey deliciousness! The Chilaquiles were good, but I recently had the most amazing chilaquiles I’ve ever had at GT Fish & Oyster, so it was really hard to compare. The Brisket & Gravy were indeed tasty as many other reviewers have mentioned and the Hash was good as well. They also have a bunch of fun, unique food items (the grocery part), they would be great if you’re looking to put a cute gift basket together or you just want a little bourbon barrel maple syrup for yourself! lionandmaven.com

I’m confused. Why was the Lolla Rossa beet salad served deconstructed? If I wanted to assemble my own salad, I would make my own at home. I had to cut the large lettuce leaves, beets that were only halved, and mix everything together. The pecans and goat cheese were also presented separately. The dressing was good and it wasn’t overdressed – but seriously – serve a salad and not a plate of components. Bewildering. Great on taste – but just a bad decision from the kitchen. Service was spotty at best – the appetizer never came, the side of one dish was botched and we had to finally flag down servers to order an additional iced tea (which was served luke warm and without ice?). I hate it if I have to flag down wait staff – so that was a disappointment. Also – the grilled brie sandwich was served with the bottom bread broken in half – not a huge deal but obviously flipped over to hide it – and which meant an unexpected very messy first bite. Nothing was horrible – but just enough lack of attention to detail that I can’t see us returning. More annoyance than joy.
