Flower Flat is a great little place to go if you want to take your time and make an event out of brunch. There is only one small kitchen and the staff is minimal. But if you aren’t too hungry and are looking to catch up with your companion, you will not be disappointed. The atmosphere is adorable and the food is AWESOME. Coffee is nice and strong and the grilled cheese sandwich is a must have.
Eric nailed the overall aesthetic of the Flower Flat in his review, but I’d say grandma-run as opposed to mom-run. This place is fantastic, especially if you love tea because their variety and knowledge regarding tea is phenomenal. I had the delphinium sandwich, probably a bit spicer than I was expecting, but I downed the whole thing no problem and enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s kind of hippie-dippie, and the hours of operation and names of items reflect that, but if you’re in the area and looking for breakfast/brunch-ish food I would highly recommend it. Plus, if you catch them at the right time you can see the owners and extended family members drive up in their van with the fresh ingredients for the day and there’s just something special about that these days.
Flower Flat is one of my favorite weekend spots in the city. It’s just like visiting mom if she happened to run a small breakfast/lunch spot. The food is great, prices are reasonable, and the coffee is strong. The service is friendly but food can take a little while – it’s a small kitchen! Relax and smell the coffee.
