Still on top of its Game. In all my trips to Chicago over the past 30 years I have walked by Yoshi’s dozens of times, but never stopped to sample its food, until a neighborhood bartender recommended it highly. We were so happy with our dinner that I made a point of returning to thank the bartender for his tip.The menu could best be described as eclectic, with strong Asian influences. The soft shell crab appetizer was wonderful, as were the sauted scallops and polenta. I fused the two appetizers into my meal, adding only the delicious complimentary breads, with their hummus and bruschetta sauces, and a side dish of the Japanese seasoned green beans. Everything was superb. My husband’s dinner of the grilled marinated skirt steak and Asian inspired pork ribs, served with a small lettuce salad, was also a winner.Service was professional and timely. Tim, our waiter, has worked for Yoshi’s for 20 years – one mark of a steady restaurant operation. Our food items came out promptly, and water glasses were filled without having to ask.Yoshi’s also excels in the atmosphere department, as their spacious dining area is bright and airy, yet still manages to carry itself with a degree of sophistication. And the customer base returns the favor, as even on the 100 degree plus summer evening of our visit most men wore long pants, and collared shirts were the norm.Prices are fair, and portions generally moderate. After 30 years of satisfying Lake View customers, Yoshi’s is still on top of its game. Here’s hoping for another 30 years!Food: AService: AAtmosphere: AMenu Sophistication: AValue: A-
Stumbled upon this place while walking this neighborhood! The ambiance is great! Staff friendly and professional! The food !! The food was excellent! Had The Whole American Red Snapper and it rocked my world! Crispy & savory bliss! Will come back again next time in Chicago 🙂
Fantastic. I’ve passed by this restaurant dozens of times in the time that I’ve lived in Chicago and finally stopped by there this past weekend. The waitstaff was really nice and accommodating, the patio was beautiful, but the food… So surprising and so good. The chicken pate was great: perfectly seasoned and served with a delightful array of veggies and toasts to eat it with. My entree, the Japanese Bento Box was even better. The fish was so rich and moist it tasted like the butter was infused in it. The side dishes were all good too, especially the gobo and sashimi. I definitely plan on coming back to this place.
