I feel like Chicago has almost any kind of cuisine you can think of but I still have never heard about Dutch-Indonesian food. I can tell you it is pretty delicious though. My wife and I got a table on a Friday night and it was pretty busy inside. Our server was on top of everything as well. As far as the food, I thought they did a really nice job of mixing south east asian flavors like coconut and curry with the more familiar european foods like potatos and cheeses. We got 2 apps. The Frites were like thick cut fries and they came with 2 really unique sauces. My wife liked the herb mayo but I though the peanut sauce was solid as well, I feel like there was some curry in it too. The dumplings were great too. They were filled with gouda and it gave a distinctly Dutch taste to something that is distinctly Asian. My wife had the mussels and they came with a coconut sauce, she approved. I got the grilled pork chop and smoked rookworst. Everything on my plate was solid and the pan sauce that was added really made it for me. We got the almond spekkoek for dessert and it was basically like eating a marzipan cake. I love marzipan so this was a win for me. The ice cream had a really intriguing flavor though. We forgot what it said on the menu so we were guessing pistachio until the server reminded us it was Pandan. If you’re sitting at home debating between Chili’s and Outback Steakhouse, I’m guessing you wouldn’t be looking at my review anyway, but stop that, you know they are both bad.
