Old classic Bar with a good seafood menu. I took my three kids and they gave them great attention. Don’t expect a highchair and take off your hat … That’s the rule and you know what? It’s about manners. Bring cash – no credit cards. I’ll go back for sure.
Homey dive bar crossed with four star seafood restaurant. I couldn’t get enough of the snow crab legs and beef tenderloin, both cooked to perfection. Eat high end food in a casual dining experience where you can eat with your hands and slurp your beer.
Heard about this from a local…. This place is off the beaten path and great value for your money. Think an old time Chicago restaurant and bar and you have nailed this place. Service was excellent and the King crab was very fresh and cooked to perfection….go early as the locals will fill this place up in the evening.
Fabulous Crab. The Half Shell was recommended by a bar tender at Twin Anchors as the place to go for crab legs. It did not disappoint. Large, meaty snow crab legs and lots of it for $21. It’s still cash only. Don’t be scared off by the decor or lack thereof. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in Chicago.
Went to half shell because it was close to our hotel and it got good reviews. The food was good. But it wasn’t as cheap as everyone made it sound. No complaints, just FYI
Earnest Mcmiller. First of all the make you take off your hat with no where to put it when you come in what’s that all about? Secondly it’s too dark in there had to use my flash light on my phone to read menu .they charge you 4.50 for a salad as a appetizer. I had the frog leg dinner those were the skinniest frog legs I’ve ever seen, my mix drink that I had ,had more ice than liquor.I left there and ordered me some food from Lawrence fisheries.
