Great food and service. We went for our anniversary and we’re very pleased with our choice. Go for the Tuesday special – 3 courses for $33 a person – it’s a great deal!
We had lunch for 6 and it was wonderful in all aspects. French Bistro style very much so! You walk in and smell the food and its intoxicating. It’s small like a Bistro and you are going to be sitting right on top of others. I really felt for the lone server and she did an awesome job staying on top of all the tables. A must if in Bucktown.
Cozy Bistro. We happened upon Le Bouchon by chance and had an incredible, relaxing lunch. French onion soup was the perfect foil to a stormy day. Amazing Croque Madame and Salade Lyonnaise. Nice selection of French beer and wines by the glass.
Charming ambience. Nice menu. Excellent service.
I read a bunch of bad reviews and I have to say they’re wrong. The food is solid, classic French. The tables are small and close together–just like Paris. Everything I ate was done by the book: salad with bacon, real croutons, poached egg. Escargot, pate, steak frites, bouillabaisse all perfect. Friendly waitstaff. What more could you want?
This is my all time favorite restaurant in Chicago. It’s crazy crowded but I’ve always enjoyed my food…the porkloin is incredible, as is their skirt steak. I highly recommend the creme brle for dessert.
I had been living out of state for several years and recently moved back to Chicago. Was very excited to go back to this old French bistro staple. Was sorely disappointed. Service was very good but the food left much to be desired. The French onion soup was very thin and weak. Lacked the depth I was seeking. My steak au poivre was, dare I say, over peppered! And the meat had become chewy and tough. I used to love this place and have lovely memories but will likely not return in an effort to keep my good memories intact.
