The ice cream is delicious and the candies are out of this world I really enjoyed Margie’s candies I will go back again and again and againand those wafers they give you with the ice cream cuz I got some scary ass to it’s good I had English toffee candylook like turtles I had the butter pecan ice cream with vanilla ice cream and strawberry ice cream how do you draw any of their sandwiches I just came for the sweet treats it’s good it’s just really good ice cream
This place is so cute. They have huge sundae platters served in retro style dishes. The ice-cream is creamy and delicious. I love the cute decor and the tiny booths. Their chocolates are worth trying as well. It’s one of my favorite place to indulge for birthdays. I only wish they accepted credit cards. But, oh well this place is worth remembering to carry cash.
Great burgers and even better sundaes and floats. Neither in the latter category skimp on the ice cream, that’s for certain. The atmosphere is one of a charming mid-century candy shop, and the quality and price reflect that old-school mentality– fairly cheap and quality food. Nights, and especially weekends, are packed, especially in the after-dinner hours. Be prepared to spend a half hour or more in a cramped line. In my experience, however, that wait has always been worth the wholesome satisfaction of a classic ice cream sundae.
We were here celebrating my husband’s (ice cream lover) birthday. It’s a weirdly shaped corner restaurant with throwback soda shop decor. We were immediately seated, even though there was a line and our server was super friendly.I ordered the banana split which for $7.95 got me 3 scoops of ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry – my choices), whipped cream, nuts, a cherry, and thick hot fudge. My husband had a caramel sundae with an extra side of butterscotch and cookies & cream ice cream with whipped cream. We were stunned by how big the servings were for the price! We could have split just one dish, but our tastes are too different. Everything was so delicious and sweet, just what we wanted out of a mom-and-Pop old fashioned ice cream shop. Great little find! windycity-wanderlust.blogspot.com
Eh. Mixed review. Charming and nostalgic? Sure. Fun menu items? Yep. Clean? No, the place is filthy. Service? Slooooooooow.
Never thought. This place has been there for over 20 yrs and still awesomeeeee
Awesome place! Sundaes and splits are great. Stays open late and is always packed.
