A great place to have brunch. The dressing in the Caesar Salad was not overpowering and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. One serving is actually good for two persons. The Monte Cristo french toast was also good. The bread was rightfully soft. It wasn’t soggy, and the raspberry preserve gives a good contrast to the sweetness of the toast.
We both had excellent cobb salads- loved the atmosphere- professional waitress, and a place that although it has gone through many incarnations and now wears a chic modern face in the restaurant, still has the old wrought iron near the elevators and has been a Chicago historic hotel for a long time. Perfect for a ladies or professional lunch!
Its a classy restaurant that is part of the Alise Chicago Hotel – great big windows that you can people watch of State Street. Food is unique not a typical hotel fare, very upscale – rabbit with butternut squash – it has breakfast and they make a lot of their items themselves versus packaged. Its the type of place that you take someone like your mother in law for brunch to impress.
