Went for the Thanksgiving buffet at $75 per person and could hardly have been more disappointed. The decor is bad 1960s. The food was average with a limited set of choices for the price. This was supposed to be a top ten choice for Chicago Thanksgiving which is why we opted for it. It was most definitely not worth $75 a head.

Good for Hotel Restaurant. I have dined at the Lockwood a couple of times while staying at the Palmer House. The atmosphere is great and beautiful decor. The food is pretty expensive, but the type of food being served is fine dining. The foie gras appetizer is amazing and the steak was cooked to perfection. Smaller portions but worth it.In the end I would probably choose to dine at a local restaurant not in a hotel, especially considering the cost. Would have been the same as eating at better high end restaurants.

Overpriced and tasteless food. Slow service. Just ate breakfast there today for first & last time. Buffet items were cold frittata off menu had no flavor; really disappointing

The restaurant has great ambiance, and my server did a good job. Maybe they were having an off night, but the food was only so-so. I had the salmon, both the polenta and fish were so buttery, I could barely eat them. The zucchini was soggy, but ok. Not worth the price.

It was 10:30 pm on a Friday night and surprisingly we could only find a Dunkin Donuts open within walking distance from the Palmer House. So we sat in the Lobby Bar and ordered a couple of drinks. My 17 year old ordered a Basil Infused Lemonade, I liked the blend of flavors, it would be a great drink for sitting on a patio in the summer. After a while we picked up the dessert menu and discovered that the world’s first brownie was created in the Palmer House pastry kitchen in 1893 for the Columbian Exposition World’s Fair in Chicago. So naturally, we had to have one. The Palmer House Brownie is a chocolate walnut brownie, served with a shot glass sized container of milk chocolate mousse and a scoop of chocolate ice cream with bittersweet sauce. Great stuff for chocolate fans, nothing outstanding about it however. We also shared a chocolate caramel tart which had sea salt sprinkled under the crust so when you ate it you ended on a salty note, interesting. All in all, this is a fantastic atmosphere for sitting and snacking and talking about life.

Beautiful. Staying at the Palmer Hilton and decided to go to the Lockwood for my birthday dinner. The food tasted as wonderful as it looked. It was simply beautiful and made for a perfect birthday dinner.

What you pay for at lunch. I had lunch here the other day. With some time to kill on my schedule between meetings, I needed some food, but also just some quiet and a place to rest. Lockwood/Palmer does both well. Very civilized. They have a cup of soup&half sandwhich lunch thing. Both were delicious (nice butternut soup). With a soft drink and tip, bill was just under $20. What would it have cost me at one of chains (Cosi, Panera, etc.). I am going to guess a little over $10. So I paid an extra $10 for some quiet, a place to charge my Iphone, a nice clean restroom. Was it worth it. Hell yeah.
