I went to this place to have a taste of authentic Mediterranean food based on the reviews, but sad enough this could not impress me much. Though the potion size is quite good and the prices are pretty pocket friendly, it misses out on the authentic Mediterranean taste. I had ordered one chicken shawarma and it was not even close to what I had expected. I am still exploring places that offer good Mediterranean cuisines in Chicago, so keep a track till I find out a good one..happy reading

Good Falafel in the Loop.. Hidden in the back of a jewelry bazaar on Wabash is Oasis Cafe, which serves tasty falafel sandwiches and vegetarian platters. Stay away from the chicken, though, because of poor-seasoning. A very basic, unornamented seating-area exists…it being quite noisy and unpleasant during the lunchtime rush but tranquil before and after.

Great lunch spot for downtown. In the back of the jewelry shop.

Good Mediterranean in Loop. Came here for the first time today. I got the combo plate and everything had unique taste but was good, especially the falafel. I’ll return to try some more dishes.

Desert Oasis?. 01.08.09-Good day fellow lunch enthusiasts! It’s lunch in the loop! Back for another thoughtful review to help you get your eat on. A few weeks ago (we are a little behind with our reviews due to the holidays, not making excuses though) my partners and I ventured to the Oasis Cafe, tucked away amongst about 15 jewelry shops. Seriously, the location is a little odd and we at first thought we were at the wrong place. You need to walk past the jewelry shops, all the way in the back…and there it is. So I guess it is kind of an oasis. The food was decent, nothing great. The falafel was pretty good, but some of us were disappointed with the rice, and the lunch platters are nothing special. Stick with the sandwiches and separate menu items. It seemed to be the kind of place that has a loyal group of regulars, as many people just walk up to the counter and order – like they’ve done it lots of times. The staff was friendly enough, and there is a whole second floor of seating. Overall, the food was ok- 3 stars…while I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there, but I would probably stop in for a falafel if I had to wait while my girlfriend’s watch was being fixed (actually don’t even have one, I’m sure my female readers are happy to hear that). **Sorry, this was actually reviewed a while back and is no longer true
