Portillo’s is a must-do when visiting Chicago! The hot dogs, Italian beefs, hamburgers, and fries are great and the onion rings were crunchy and tasty and so good! The atmosphere is loud and boisterous like outside a baseball game and just right! Make sure to get in line for the things you want to order. Don’t miss this fun Chicago tradition.
Chose Poags for the going away lunch for a colleague as this place is close to work and since few of us had to rush back for a meeting. We were a party of nine and the table was set in few minutes. Very good ambiance and we were attended fast.Went for the Chicken Kabobs -skewered with grilled pineapple and bell peppers, bbq baked beans and mac & cheese. The portion of the food is very good vs the price. But now comes thedisappointmentmost chicken pieces were dry and over cooked, so notaste at all.Bakedbeans and mac an cheese were tasty. Now comes the absolute shocker, the last piece of chicken was under cooked, I could see the pink meat. Lucky me as it was the last piece. Not sure how they managed it overcooked and under-cooked stuff on the same skewer.I took a picture too, but it didn’t turnout well because of low light.Pointed this out to the waitress, she offered to change/replace, neither I had the time or appetite. Left completely dissatisfiedUpdate : They did not charge for the dish, I didn’t know that until recently as somebody else settled the tab.

Limited but Tasty Menu. Dinner at Poag’s last night, great food and service, and an expanded wine list (the 4 we tried were very good). Not many options beyond burgers, but those are good, with a really tasty vegetarian option. 50statesofwine.com
Bad service. The food wasn’t bad, but the service was so horrible that there is no saving this place.
Nice atmosphere, and ample portions, but the bacon blue cheese burger left a bit to be desired. And fries are almost $3 extra? I don’t think I’ll return to Poag’s, but rather continue my quest for the bestest burger in town.
